The ESPN "30 for 30" documentary “Catholics vs. Convicts,” which will air Saturday night, will revisit the classic Oct. 15, 1988, showdown between No. 1 Miami and No. 4 Notre Dame.
It’s one of the immortal regular-season games in college football history because of the culture clash between Miami under Jimmy Johnson and Notre Dame under Lou Holtz. The Irish won that game 31-30 in South Bend, and it lives on to this day.
“I don’t know how I could’ve had two things that were more disparate colliding,” ESPN’s Dan Le Batard, a longtime Miami Herald columnist, says in the promo.
