Carmelo Anthony Takes Step in Test of Knee

Carmelo Anthony took part in a light, noncontact workout on Tuesday in Las Vegas, where U.S.A. Basketball convened a three-day training camp this week involving more than 30 N.B.A. players. It was a small but noteworthy step for Anthony, 31, who has not played basketball since February, when he underwent surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his left knee.

In an interview with NBA TV, Anthony said that he remained limited to one-on-one and two-on-two drills and that he would not be cleared for full-contact workouts until near the end of the month. He said he expected to be playing at full strength well before the Knicks began training camp at the end of September.
