Carl Edwards survives crash-filled Bristol race for first Cup victory of 2016

Cue the backflip. Carl Edwards survived a race that saw his teammates crash with tire problems to win the Food City 500 at Bristol.

It was Edwards' first victory of the season, one he built after taking command in the final 20 laps. Dale Earnhardt Jr. overcome early problems, including one before the race began, to finish second.

The rest of the top five: Kurt Busch, Chase Elliott and Trevor Bayne.

Edwards was terrific on restarts, fighting off challenges that included Elliott, Busch and Kevin Harvick late in the race.

Bristol brought surprises in the finishing order.
