BOSTON — Before the press conference even started, Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs and Cam Neely praised general manager Don Sweeney and expressed confidence in his ability to return the franchise to contender status.
But Neely admitted later that he remained undecided whether to extend Sweeney’s contract beyond the 2025-26 season.
Sweeney confirmed that he’s entering the final year of his current deal, leading to a question about whether Neely intended to extend him.
“I’ve given it a lot of thought and I’m still contemplating what the best course of action is, but as I mentioned, I really feel like Don has done a good job here for the most part,” Neely said.
