Broncos notebook: Denver driven to win one more for ailing owner Pat Bowlen

The Broncos will have extra motivation in Sunday's Super Bowl 50 showdown.

Longtime Broncos owner Pat Bowlen suffered a blood clot and remained hospitalized for quite some time prior to Denver's playoff run, The Denver Post reported Friday.

Bowlen, who is battling Alzheimer's, has since returned to his home to continue recovering. The 71-year-old had resigned control of the team and stepped away from the day-to-day operations of the franchise because of his health in July 2014.

Since purchasing the team in 1984, Bowlen has seen the Broncos make it to 18 playoff games and seven Super Bowls, tying Patriots owner Robert Kraft for the most appearances among owners in NFL history.
