British Open 2016: Quest for Claret Jug begins; follow with SN's live leaderboard

There's major tournament golf this weekend across the Atlantic — Scotland, to be exact. Royal Troon is hosting the 145th Open Championship or, as we Yanks call it, the British Open.

Round 1 gets under way in the middle of the night U.S. time, and the first group off the tee is a pretty fair one indeed: Colin Montgomerie (Scotland), Luke Donald (England) and Marc Leishman (Australia). Those three will lead a four-day parade of the world's best golfers across a hallowed course, with millions of dollars and one of the most prestigious trophies in sports — the Claret Jug — at stake.
