Atlanta Braves interim manager Brian Snitker will become the club's full-time manager for the 2017 season, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
Snitker, who took over when Fredi Gonzalez was fired following the Braves' 9-28 start to the season, was selected over former Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington and former San Diego Padres manager Bud Black.
Although the Braves had a losing record under Snitker, there is plenty of optimism in the organization as the club opens SunTrust Park. The Braves won 12 of their last 14 games, sluggers Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp finished top five in home runs in the NL, and Kemp finished third in RBIs.
