Brewers 7, Mets 0: Last-Place Brewers Add to Mets’ Growing Anxiety

That was the message conveyed by Alderson, the Mets’ general manager, on Friday when his club returned home after being swept by the Chicago Cubs in a four-game series that dropped their May record to 5-7.

“I think everybody needs to take a deep breath,” Alderson said. “Before we started that series, we were nine games over .500,” he added, positively spinning that three of the four losses were by one run.

Friday’s game appeared to be a more welcome environment than Wrigley Field. In the visitors’ dugout were the last-place Milwaukee Brewers.
