Gaughan’s mad dash became a viral sensation in the hours since it aired on NBC's broadcast.

For the record, Gaughan finished 31st at Kansas and is now seventh in the Xfinity Chase standings, 29 behind the leader and 17 behind Justin Allgaier, who holds the fourth and final transfer spot.
