Bills release beleaguered RB Karlos Williams

The Buffalo Bills announced the release of running back Karlos Williams just hours before Saturday's preseason game against the New York Giants.

It's a shocking move considering the second-year rusher broke out for 517 yards rushing on just 93 attempts (5.6 yards per carry) and nine total touchdowns in his rookie campaign. But Williams came to camp overweight and was hit with a four-game suspension in July for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

With Williams no longer in the picture, LeSean McCoy will assume a larger workload with Reggie Bush and scat-back Mike Gillislee working their way into the rotation.
