There are 10 teams in the Big 12 Conference. It has been this way for a while now, since all the way back in 2011, but we wanted to give you a chance to wear out a few more tired jokes about that numerical incongruity in case the league’s authorities soon decide to address it through expansion.
They are at it again in the Big 12, trying to figure out where they fit in the subsection of Division I athletics known as the Power 5. (Yes, there are five leagues in the Power 5, but sometimes it seems as though the leading members of the Big 12 are intent on dropping that number to four).
