Belgium and Spain both fell woefully short of expectations at Euro 2016, and both look to turn the page with new managers at the helm before beginning World Cup qualifying.
The two European powers meet in Brussels, with Roberto Martinez (and new assistant coach Thierry Henry) guiding the host Red Devils against Julen Lopetegui and La Furia Roja. Belgium was ousted in the quarterfinals of Euro 2016, falling to Wales. Spain, meanwhile, fell a round earlier to Italy, prematurely ending its quest to become the first side to three-peat as European champion.
Spain opens up World Cup qualifying on Monday against Liechtenstein, while Belgium starts Tuesday away at Cyprus, so both will be looking to fine-tune and establish rhythm under their new managers before resuming play in games of large consequence.
