Baylor wide receiver Ishmael Zamora will be suspended for the first three games of the Bears’ 2016 season as he faces charges for an August animal abuse incident, the school announced Tuesday.

Earlier this month, Waco's News Channel 25 obtained a video of Zamora viciously whipping his dog with a belt before kicking and cursing at it. The footage, which was originally posted to another Baylor player's Snapchat account, was initially reported to police July 5.

Zamora was charged with a Class C misdemeanor for molesting an animal Aug. 19.
