(Reuters) - Seattle Mariners right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma threw a no-hitter against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday in a 3-0 victory that made him the just the second Japanese pitcher to accomplish the feat.
Iwakuma, who improved to 4-2 this season, joined Hideo Nomo as he struck out seven and walked three batters at Seattle's Safeco Field in his first career complete game.
The Japanese, who threw 116 pitches, registered the first American League no-hitter since his team mate Felix Hernandez threw a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Aug.
