Angel City FC defender Savy King was taken to the hospital after collapsing on the field during Friday night's matchup with the Utah Royals. The team released a statement on early Saturday morning saying King was "responsive" and undergoing further treatment.
King, 20, fell to the turf during the 74th minute and team trainers and teammates immediately attended to her. After approximately 10 minutes of treatment, she was taken from the field on a stretcher as both teams gathered around in support.
“Her family is with her, as is our medical staff, so she’s in good hands,” Angel City assistant coach Eleri Earnshaw told reporters after the game, via the Los Angeles Times.
