When Andrew Miller was traded from Boston to Baltimore last year at the nonwaiver trading deadline, he was not sure what he was walking into. The experience, with the incessant rumors about where he might land, had jangled his nerves.
But Orioles Manager Buck Showalter welcomed Miller into his office, his new teammates embraced him, and when Miller entered a game on his first day in uniform, the crowd at Camden Yards gave him an ovation.
“It was something I’ll never forget — one of the coolest experiences of my playing career,” said Miller, who signed with the Yankees in December.
