Andoni Iraola expressed his disbelief after Tyrone Mings escaped a red card for what he described as “a very dangerous challenge” early in Aston Villa’s victory over his Bournemouth side.
The Villa defender survived a sixth-minute VAR check after his elbow made contact with Alex Scott’s face, which eventually led to the Bournemouth midfielder being substituted at half-time with a suspected broken jaw.
“It was a very dangerous challenge, very dangerous,” said Iraola. “We have sent Alex for X-rays with the jaw. It [Scott’s return] will depend on the X-ray. If his jaw is broken, it’s over [for the season].
