CINCINNATI — Before they lost the seventh game of the World Series at home last October, the Kansas City Royals vanquished three American League rivals. One was the Los Angeles Angels, who did not win a game in Mike Trout’s postseason debut.
The Royals and the Angels are in first place now, one pennant race away from another chance at a title. Their players made the path a bit easier on Tuesday by helping the American League beat the National League, 6-3, in the All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park.
Trout, who led off with a homer and scored twice, became the first player to win consecutive All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Awards.
