The first full slate of preseason games brought a surprise appearance from the recent litigant Tom Brady and a touchdown for Johnny Manziel. But the name that created the most excitement seemed to be Ameer Abdullah of the Detroit Lions.
A second-round draft pick out of Nebraska, Abdullah had seven carries for 67 yards against the Jets in Detroit on Thursday night. His marquee play was a 45-yard run in the first quarter. Abdullah found a hole off tackle and accelerated past half the Jets defense, including Demario Davis, before finally being brought down by Darrelle Revis.
