Alex Gordon to Stay With Kansas City Royals

When the Mets and the Kansas City Royals meet on opening day in a rematch of the 2015 World Series, many of the faces across the field from the Mets will look familiar, and the group will include Alex Gordon, the face of the franchise. On Wednesday, Gordon unexpectedly re-signed with the team for four years and $68 million, with a $23 million mutual option for a fifth year or a $4 million buyout.

Gordon will now be remembered as this generation’s George Brett, the high Royals draft pick who won a World Series title and played his entire career in Kansas City.
