Aledmys Diaz hits grand slam in first game since attending Jose Fernandez's memorial

St. Louis Cardinals rookie Aledmys Diaz said before Tuesday's matchup with the Cincinnati Reds the best way to honor his childhood friend Jose Fernandez was to play with his passion.

Diaz took his own words to heart in his first game since leaving the Cardinals on Monday morning to attend a memorial for Fernandez in Miami. Diaz blasted a grand slam in the fourth inning of Tuesday night's game against the Reds at Busch Stadium.

The All-Star infielder hammered a 94-mph fastball from Reds pitcher Robert Stephenson for the first grand slam of his career, an accomplishment of which Fernandez would be proud.
