Alabama Topples Georgia in Rout

ATHENS, Ga. — Alabama’s football program under Nick Saban does not do leftovers. The Crimson Tide might lose a game here and there, but they do not go away easily and settle for second place, third place or a minor bowl game.

Alabama is accustomed to being a national championship contender, and the 13th-ranked Crimson Tide reasserted itself on Saturday as a force in the Southeastern Conference with a 38-10 thumping of the eighth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1).

Two weeks after losing to Mississippi in a mistake-filled game that had many questioning whether Alabama (4-1, 1-1) still had the resources to compete for a national title, the Crimson Tide’s brand of complementary football — offense, defense, special teams — was too much for Georgia before an announced sellout crowd of 92,746 in a soaking rain.
