Technically, it took Toledo 40 minutes to beat Valparaiso in Monday’s season opener.
But, in five seconds, the Rockets were able to illustrate what type of night it was going to be for Valpo.
Setric Millner, Jr., won the opening tip and directed the ball toward roommate JT Shumate, who made the first basket of the season. It was only the beginning for Toledo, which never trailed en route to a resounding 85-70 win over the Beacons.
“It was the first game, and we’ve been waiting for a long time,” UT point guard RayJ Dennis said.
