AVON, Ohio — The University of Toledo baseball team fought its way through the elimination bracket of the Mid-American Conference tournament, defeating Ball State 13-10 and Kent State 6-2 on Saturday.
The wins made the fifth-seeded Rockets one of the final two teams in the tournament, setting up a Sunday showdown with No. 1 Miami (Ohio), the champion of the winners’ bracket. The Rockets, who have never won the MAC tournament, are in the final for the first time since 2009.
Toledo had a morning start at Crushers Park for the third straight day after beating Bowling Green on Thursday, losing to Miami on Friday, and knocking off Eastern Michigan on Friday night.
