College basketball season in the Mid-American Conference is a six-month slog, with bus rides through the heartland, late nights in rural communities, and intense competition in an underrated league.

The 2020-21 season is unlike any other, as teams navigate the coronavirus pandemic, testing players multiple times per week and constantly facing barriers that were never considered prior to March 11. Something as mundane as restaurant seating and locker room spacing has become must-know details for directors of basketball operations.

“There are just so many elements we have to think about that we’ve never thought about before,” Toledo women’s basketball coach Tricia Cullop said.
