University of Toledo wide receivers coach Mike Bellamy is leaving the Rockets to become the new running backs coach at the University of Illinois, his alma mater, Toledo confirmed.
Bellamy spent the past two seasons on the staff at Toledo and coached All-Mid-American Conference receivers Cody Thompson, Diontae Johnson, and Jon’Vea Johnson.
Bellamy was the wide receivers coach at Illinois from 2013 to 2015. As a player, he was a second-team All-American and a first-team All-Big Ten receiver in 1989.
