The University of Toledo women’s basketball team turned up the defense in its home-opening, 65-50 win over Rhode Island on Tuesday at Savage Arena.
The Rockets forced 23 turnovers and led by as many as 21 points in the second half on the way to a 2-0 record to start the season.
“This year we have really emphasized getting in the passing lanes and getting out and really pressuring people,” UT sophomore guard Mikaela Boyd said. “Our goal is to make the team turn the ball over as much as possible. We are trying to be more aggressive this year and it’s showing.
