During his Monday news conference, University of Toledo football coach Jason Candle, while discussing his team’s upcoming game at Western Michigan, glanced over at sports information director Paul Helgren for clarification on his record in Kalamazoo.
“We’ve lost three times there,” Helgren said.
“Thanks for reminding me,” Candle said, playfully, with a hint of the frustration Western Michigan has caused him.
Winning on the road is never easy, especially in conference games. Every year, Candle says the most difficult thing in sports is winning conference road games in college football. Over the past decade, road teams have won 40 percent of the time across the sport.
