Toledo's offensive line remaining adaptable through injuries

Even before the 2020 season began, Toledo football was down a man on the offensive line.

Projected starting left tackle Mitchell Berg underwent offseason shoulder surgery and was out for the year. So, in the home opener against Bowling Green, transfer Vitaliy Gurman started at the left tackle spot, and Lavel Dumont started at right tackle.

But in that contest, Dumont was carted off the field in the first half with what ended up being a season-ending injury.

When asked this week about the necessity of adapting on the line this season, Toledo coach Jason Candle said: “It's one of those deals where you got to roll your sleeves up and go to work and have a really blue collar approach.
