Toledo's defense improving during conference play

After a much-maligned start to the season against Tulsa and Miami (Fla.) the University of Toledo defense has settled in and is playing its best football during conference season.

In Toledo’s five conference games, Toledo leads the Mid-American Conference in scoring defense (16 points per game) and total defense (328.4 yards per game).

During MAC games, Toledo is third in rush defense (113.2 yards per game) and fourth in pass defense (215.2 yards per game).

In the game against Northern Illinois, senior defensive back Trevon Mathis had two interceptions, which helped Toledo to the top turnover margin in the conference at +5.
