HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — A fourth-quarter run helped Northern Kentucky defeat the University of Toledo women’s basketball team 70-61 on Wednesday.
Playing in front of a school-day crowd of 3,147, the visiting Rockets (1-3) led 52-49 heading into the fourth quarter before the Norse closed things out with a 21-9 final period.
Northern Kentucky started the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run, taking the lead on a 3-pointer by Kylee Hunt with 8:40 left in regulation. Toledo kept it close until late, cutting the Norse lead to two points on three separate occasions, but Northern Kentucky went on another 7-0 run over the game’s final 2:15 to record a nine-point victory.
