ATLANTA — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team opened the 2019-20 season with a 74-48 win over Georgia State on Tuesday at the GSU Sports Arena.
Four players netted double scoring figures for the Rockets, including a double-double from leading scorer Tanaya Beacham. The Rockets forward scored 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting, and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Chattanooga transfer Arianne Whitaker scored 12 points on 6-for-7 shooting off the bench in her Rockets debut. A native of Cincinnati, Whitaker transferred to Toledo as a graduate student after making the 2018-19 Southern Conference’s All-Defensive Team. She ranks third in Chattanooga school history in blocked shots (109).
