PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Toledo softball team split its second doubleheader of GCU's Purple Classic on Sunday, defeating Montana 6-5 in the opener before falling to New Mexico 5-1 in the afternoon contest.
In the victory over Montana, the Rockets fell behind 4-0 in the first inning but rallied for the win. RBI singles by junior and senior in the fourth inning gave Toledo a 6-5 lead that held up as the final margin. (5-2) went the distance for the win.
Toledo again found itself down 4-0 in its second game vs. New Mexico but this time could not muster enough offense for a comeback in the 5-1 loss.
