PORT CLINTON, Ohio – Sophomore Cheryl Hong tied for third place to lead Toledo to a second-place showing in the Rocket Classic on Tuesday afternoon. The Rockets finished with a team score of 925 at the par-72, 6,118-yard Catawba Island Club, 25 strokes behind tournament champion Central Michigan.
Hong shot one-over par 73s in the second round and strung together three consecutive birdies today on the sixth, seventh and eighth holes en route to best showing of her collegiate career.
Also finishing in the Top 10 for the Rockets were junior Amelia Lee (76-74-80) and sophomore Angel Hii (75-77-78), who tied for ninth place at 230.
