KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — As the University of Toledo women’s basketball team huddled together on Sunday in Savage Arena to watch the NCAA tournament selection show, Tricia Cullop assumed the Rockets would end up in Columbus or South Bend.
The potential seed for Ohio State and Notre Dame made sense for Toledo to be in the opposite game. And it would have resulted in droves of UT fans being in attendance.
It’s not that the Rockets didn’t want that, but there was a preference to go elsewhere. So when Knoxville flashed on the screen, the game site was an added bonus.
