Toledo offensive lineman Matt Hofer honored to be Wuerffel Trophy finalist

It’s easy to overestimate what it takes to change someone’s life, but showing the impact of an hour is what Matt Hofer hopes will inspire others to give back.

The University of Toledo offensive lineman became the first Rocket finalist for the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, which recognizes “players who exemplify character, leadership, and a deep commitment to serving others,” according to the All Sports Association, the organization in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., that presents the award.

The award is named after former University of Florida and NFL quarterback Danny Wuerffel, a standout at Fort Walton Beach High School who took on a career in charity work with Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans after retiring from football.
