Toledo, Michigan State still discussing future options

While University of Toledo vice president and athletic director Mike O’Brien was prepared for the recent decision by the Big Ten conference to eliminate nonconference football games this fall, the news was no less painful for the Rockets program from a competitive standpoint as well as a financial standpoint.

"It really wasn't a surprise," O'Brien said. "I think as [Mid-American Conference] schools, we were somewhat prepared for it, but it is a big financial hit though. Needless to say, we were excited. We are always excited about going to a Big Ten venue and I know our fans were as well.
