Toledo men's golf breaks 54-hole school record

VERO BEACH, Fla. — The University of Toledo’s men’s golf team broke the 54-hole school record on Monday en route to a fourth-place finish at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational at Quail Valley Golf Club.

The Rockets carded a 22-under-par 842 to finish 13 shots back of Kansas (829). Kent State (836) and Michigan State (841) were second and third, respectively.

Toledo’s previous best 54-hole score was a 843 (21 under) in 2002 at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis.

“It was a good effort collectively and nice to be in contention, playing in the last pairing of the final round,” UT coach Jeff Roope said in a statement from the athletics department.
