One of the top basketball recruits in the state of Illinois in the Class of 2023 has committed to the University of Toledo.
Sam Lewis, a 6-foot-4 guard from prestigious Simeon High School, announced his commitment on Twitter. He chose the Rockets over offers from Akron, Northern Illinois, Cleveland State, Southern Illinois, and Illinois-Chicago.
It’s been a busy offseason for Lewis, who transferred from Oak Park to Simeon and picked a college destination. He joins a long list of UT players from the Chicagoland area during the Tod Kowalczyk era.
Juice Brown, Nathan Boothe, Nate Navigato, and Steve Taylor all had successful careers for the Rockets, and RayJ Dennis, Tyler Cochran, and Dante Maddox will be key pieces this season.
