Tod Kowalczyk relaxed on his couch during the evening of March 30 when he noticed RayJ Dennis’ name enter the transfer portal.
It caused the Toledo basketball coach to jolt with excitement. He fired off a text message to associate head coach Jeff Massey alerting him of the news and declaring that this is what the Rockets were waiting for.
Kowalczyk was so exhuberant the following morning that he was tempted to call Dennis, deciding instead to hold off until noon because of the time change in Idaho. The pair hadn’t spoken since September of 2018 after Dennis committed to Boise State.
