Toledo football team believes it has championship-level defense

If any defense has Emmanuel McNeil-Warren on the field, chances are high that it’s an elite unit.

That holds for the University of Toledo, despite the team’s two losses. Entering Saturday’s game against Akron, the Rockets rank 17th nationally in total defense (246.3 yards per game) and 25th in scoring defense (14.8 points).

Want to throw the football? Good luck, they’re only allowing 145.0 passing yards per game. Opposing quarterbacks are completing 53.2 percent of their passes with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Want to keep the ball on the ground? Opponents are barely gaining 100 yards per game.
