Toledo football finds rhythm in all phases, blow out Akron 45-3

A 28-yard touchdown on the first play of the game was just one highlight in a dominant performance from start to finish as Toledo cruised to a 45-3 victory over Akron on homecoming Saturday.

The Rockets (3-2, 1-1 MAC) found the end zone on five of their six first-half drives — two scores coming from wide receiver Junior Vandeross III, who became the 15th player in program history to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards.

Receiver Eric Holley III had the third of quarterback Tucker Gleason’s three touchdown passes in the half and running back Chip Trayanum scored for the fourth consecutive game.
