The University of Toledo is finalizing a five-year deal with Mike Jacobs to become the next head football coach, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Jacobs, who spent two seasons as head coach at Mercer University, has a 94-23 career record with no losing seasons, seven conference titles, and four conference coach of the year honors.
He is a Maumee native and played at Ohio State before coaching for over two decades at Notre Dame College (Ohio), Lenoir-Rhyne, and Mercer.
Jacobs becomes the 28th coach in Rockets history, replacing former head coach Jason Candle, who departed for the same job at the University of Connecticut earlier this week.
