University of Toledo head football coach Jason Candle has interviewed to become the 33rd head coach at the University of Connecticut, according to a source familiar with the discussions.
The Huskies had their second consecutive nine-win season in 2025, going 9-3 with wins over Boston College and Duke. Candle will replace Jim Mora after he was hired at Colorado State on Nov. 26.
In his 10 seasons leading the Rockets, Candle went 81-44 and became the program’s all-time winningest coach with this year’s 45-21 win over Western Kentucky.
He won two Mid-American Conference championships (2017, 2022) and was a two-time MAC Coach of the Year (2017, 2023).
