ATHENS, Ohio – Toledo (12-21) couldn't overcome Ohio's hot bats on Friday evening and suffered a 10-1 five-inning defeat to the Bobcats (20-6) in its Mid-American Conference opener.
Sophomore starter Heather Webb (7-7) took the loss after allowing four runs off two hits and five walks in 2.1 innings pitched. Sophomore Kailey Minarchick allowed six earned runs off eight hits in 1.2 innings of relief work.
Senior 2B Chandler Rice (1-for-2) jumped on NFCA Mideast Region pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey (12-3) right from the start of the game with a leadoff home run to center.
