Toledo basketball endures hard fall back to earth

I’m not sure what an NCAA tournament basketball team is supposed to look like — archaeologists haven’t seen one in Toledo since the Walkman was invented — but I’d hazard it wasn’t what we saw Friday night at Savage Arena.

Let’s slow the roll, guys.

After the Rockets cruised past Penn for their 10th straight win last week, coach Tod Kowalczyk said, “We are a team that is worthy of an at-large look.”

Their 79-64 loss to Ball State suggests they’re also worthy of a return to earth.

You can’t burn through two months of goodwill in one night, but Toledo sure gave it the college try.
