Toledo baseball recovers to stay alive in MAC tournament

AVON, Ohio — The University of Toledo baseball team lost 10-4 to Miami (Ohio) at the Mid-American Conference tournament Friday but bounced back with a 6-2 victory over Eastern Michigan to stay alive in the double-elimination event.

After Thursday’s wet, wild 14-12 win over Bowling Green, fifth-seeded Toledo returned to Crushers Stadium Friday morning to face the top-seeded RedHawks. Miami opened the scoring in the bottom of the third when UT committed two errors in the field, allowing Dillon Baker to reach first and later score.

Evan Appelwick hit an RBI triple to give Miami a 2-0 lead, and Dominic Krupinski brought Appelwick home with a single for 3-0.
