When the former three-star tight end entered the transfer portal following the 2021 season, there were two intrigued coaches at the University of Toledo: head coach Jason Candle and tight ends coach Mark Staten.
Candle had recruited Torres out of high school, and Staten tried to lure the top-50 tight end to Michigan State.
