The Jason Candle era at at Toledo appears to be over.
The Rockets’ all-time wins leader is finalizing a deal to become the next football coach at the University of Connecticut, The Blade has learned.
It is unclear who would coach Toledo in its upcoming bowl game, the destination of which the team will learn Sunday.
Candle, 46, was 81-44 in 10 seasons as the head coach at Toledo, following seven seasons as an assistant. He won two Mid-American Conference championships (2017, 2022) and was a two-time MAC Coach of the Year (2017, 2023). Candle also helped produce 11 NFL draft picks — most recently Quinyon Mitchell and Darius Alexander.
