Santucci lifts UT women to second straight win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team won its second straight game in the middle of its five-game road stretch by defeating Belmont 78-69 on Thursday afternoon at the Curb Event Center.

Junior Mariella Santucci scored a career-high 22 points to lead Toledo (4-2) in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Mikaela Boyd and Sara Rokkanen added 12 points as did Nakiah Black, who played 24 minutes off the bench. Kaayla McIntyre had 10 points.

Ellie Harmeyer paced Belmont (4-2) with a game-high 26 points, while Darby Maggard added 16 points and Maddie Cook scored 10.
